You know how there are bad days and really bad days?

Well I reckon news HarperCollins in the UK is in the process of pulping many thousands of copies of Jonathan Franzen’s Freedom because they inadvertently printed an old version of the manuscript pretty definitely falls into the latter category. Ouch.

    I got my copy sent to me here from a UK website the day it was released there, and before the recall happened – there was one particular paragraph that I read about five times before deciding that it wasn’t me, it just didn’t make sense. Now it does…

    • Isn’t that interesting. I read the US edition, so I’m immune from all this, but it’s good to know the pulped edition actually is substantively different from the finished one.
