Richard T Kelly’s blog

British author Richard T Kelly’s first novel, Crusaders, didn’t get the press it should have here in Australia. In a way that’s curious, since for all that it harks back to the state-of-the-nation novels that British writers such as Margaret Drabble were producing in the early 1980s (and via them, to the great Victorian social novel of Dickens or Eliot), it’s precisely the kind of expansive, intelligent, politically-engaged fiction readers seem to respond to, and it’s easily as good as Philip Hensher’s Booker-shortlisted The Northern Clemency. I’ve not met Richard (though we share a publisher in the UK) but I’ve now discovered he maintains a terrific blog, which is well worth a visit.
